Area FST Of Temporal Cortex

Most inconsistencies between the constraints and the hierarchical relationships in the optimal structures for the visual system were related to connections of area FST (fundus of superior temporal sulcus).

TEO was also found to have reciprocal intermediate-type connections with the fundus of the superior temporal area (area FST), cortex in the most posteromedial portion of the superior temporal sulcus (the posterior parietal sulcal zone [ area PP]), cortex in the intraparietal sulcus (including the lateral intraparietal area [ area LIP]), the frontal eye field, and area TF on the parahippocampal gyrus.

Eighteen cells (18/50 = 36%) were found to respond preferentially during tracking (tracking cells), 7 within MT, 9 in area FST on the floor of the STS, and 2 in unidentified areas.

area FST and parts of both MST and VIP had a distinctive myeloarchitecture.

area FST, which has a distinctive myeloarchitecture, was found anterior to MT in the fundus of the STS, for which it is named.
